i've done too many cars lately, want to branch out a little. preferably not direct human portraits just yet, too difficult for photoshop work as i havent used it much before. thanksWhat should i digital paint on photoshop?
I recommend trying a landscape of some kind - like a field or an ocean view.
This is great for practicing shading and color blending.

Why don't you try taking photos of old structures and gravestones? they are really interesting to photo shop because often things like Ivy and other plants which grow over the masonry look amazing once manipulated by photo shop. Especially when the building/gravestone is in black and white and the plants etc have been painted. There are also alot of graffiti art which would look amazing with the same approach.
