What size and resolution of digital painting for very large printing?

I'm going to do a digital painting for printing in very large size about 150*170 cm.

my teacher said that I should set the size of canvas equal to the size of the printing . OMG! OoO....

my poor laptop can not handle it !!

help me please !!!What size and resolution of digital painting for very large printing?
well if you prepare your document size 170/150 with a low resolution it should be ok at least what you draw is what will be printed now the best config is same size as printing and high res like 200 ppiWhat size and resolution of digital painting for very large printing?
*shakes head*

Nope, you are right. Your laptop can not handle that.

What you can do is cut it into manageable pieces and glue those back to a whole.

You can use 150dpi for a A4 print but 300dpi would be better... only that about 40 times :-)

Hope it works out. Good luck
I do recommend 300 DPI, do your best to keep it at that range, or make the painting smaller.

Another option is to break the picture into several pieces (Maybe 11'' x 17'')
300 dpi will be the ok. Or convert the file into smaller format like pdf or photoshop eps (quality will maintain while size is minimum)
