Is Tablet PC useful for digital painting?

And can you guys recommend me one, something that is not expensive?Is Tablet PC useful for digital painting?
While it is not impossible, it is very difficult to do any digital painting without one. The natural feel of a stylus in an artist's hands means that work can go much faster and more intuitively than with using a mouse. Drawing and painting with a mouse has been compared to ';drawing with a brick.';

Do a search to find alternatives to the often recommended Wacom brands. Most people recommend Wacom because they don't know any others, and someone else recommended a Wacom in the first place. I know one good, comparable brand, DigiPro that seems to have similar functionality and features of the more expensive Wacoms.

Look for USB plug in feature and pressure sensitivity. These should ALL be compatible with the more popular digital graphics applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, Corel, Paint Shop Pro, Gimp and others.Is Tablet PC useful for digital painting?
I use a Wacom Intuos 3 and it is imperative for digital painting unless you are really good with a mouse...either way it will make life much easier on you. If it is feeling strange to you at first and you are a traditional artist you can lay a piece of paper over it for awhile....gives more a feeling of drawing on paper.

You will never regret buying a tablet if you plan on painting digitally.

As far as expense goes. It is worth it, but Wacom has cheaper models....and there is always Ebay.
