Light painting with digital?

i have a fine pix s5500 and s5600Light painting with digital?
Any camera with bulb as one of the shutter speed options will do what you want.

You will need a 1) tripod, 2) a remote shutter release and 3) a few penlights or LED lights of different colours.

You can adjust the exposure of the lights (to get more saturation) by adjusting the aperture on the lens until you can get the perfect exposureLight painting with digital?
If you can't get the shutter to stay open for more than a few seconds you can take several pictures, each with part of your light painting, and then layer them in a program like photoshop. The camera should be held still with a tripod or clamp.

Put each photo in a different layer and use the difference command in the layers menu to merge the images.
Which digital camera do you have?

If it will allow you to keep the shutter open for 5 seconds or more then you are halfway there. A couple of other useful things to have are a tripod and shutter remote. Very handy.
