What graphics software is best for digital painting?

Definitely Photoshop. Every professional I know, myself included, uses it for drawing, painting, photo editing, everything so you can't go wrong.What graphics software is best for digital painting?
At the moment I use ArcSoft photoimpression 4 and 5. I use 5 for cropping and 4 for all my painting, smudging and effects because I think it's better. I'm looking into getting Adobe Photoshop also. I don't know if these are the best programmes but these are the ones I know. I also use Gimp 2.0 for some editing and graphics. A good graphics programme I can recommend is Xara 3D. That's not for painting or anything but gives great 3d effects where you can change lighting and everything.What graphics software is best for digital painting?
